BookTrib is a publishing product with a reader-facing mobile app and an admin panel for content teams — discovery, editorial control, and day-to-day publishing ops in one system.

Challenge

Readers need discovery that feels personal on mobile; editors need an admin panel they can run without a developer ticket for every content change. A brochure website and a disconnected CMS force the brand to choose between reader experience and editorial control. BookTrib needed both surfaces to share one content model — so what editors publish is what readers discover.

Opportunity

Ship a mobile-first reader product and an operator admin together. When editorial workflows and discovery stay aligned, the publishing business can grow content and campaigns without waiting on engineering for routine updates — and without letting the reader app drift into a static catalog.

Approach

We treated the reader journey and the editorial workflow as one product. The Flutter app owns discovery, book detail, and recommendations; the React admin owns publishing and content operations; Django holds the shared content structures underneath. Engineering owns platform boundaries. Editors own day-to-day publishing.

A Flutter mobile app for personalized book discovery (home feed, detail, recommendations), a React admin panel for editorial and content operations, and a Django + PostgreSQL backend with structured content for day-to-day publishing. Retailer links and content metadata stay tied to the same book records across surfaces.

Impact

Readers get a mobile discovery experience shaped by editorial judgment — featured rows, recommendations, and book detail with buy paths. Editors can publish and manage content from the admin panel without waiting on a release train for standard work.
